Embroidery Hoop Project

I have seen these adorable embroidery hoop decorations all over Pinterest and blog land for several months. I thought to myself...this seems so easy...I think I can make these!
(unknown source)

I saw a couple of tutorials and thought they could be done in an easier way.
My way might not be as perfect as others, but it serves the same purpose and has the same end result.

Supplies you'll need:
Embroidery hoops, fabric, hot glue gun, scissors, pen or fabric pen (not pictured), iron and embellishments.
Start off with a rough measurement (about 3/4 of an inch) around your embroidery hoop. *This does not need to be perfect, no one will ever see these marks!*
Once you've cut your circle out, you end up with this...
A very uneven circle...again, it does not have to be a perfect circle.
Next, iron your fabric circle.
Then, place your cut, ironed fabric between your embroidery hoops and tighten clasp.
Flip your hoop over and gently tug at the fabric. You want your fabric to be tightly secured in the hoop.
Next, grab your trusty hot glue gun and run a thin line of glue around the back side of your hoop.
When you are gluing the edges down, do a slight tuck, that way there are no see-through edges.
Once you are finished gluing the edges down, hot glue your embellishments to your finished product.
Next, go grab your hubby or significant other from working on their bass boat to hang up your beautiful new wall art!

Hope everyone is having a crafty Tuesday!

Vintage Finds - Hello, Red!

I hope everyone is having a very exciting, thrifty day!
Here are some of my recent thrifted, vintage finds!

5 - 8 oz. Red Melmac cups. $6 for all.
I have become quite obsessed with Melmac and it's charm...this could be bad!

Thermo Serv Red Gingham pitcher. $4.99. I am loving using this very vintage yet functional piece in my summer dish collection!

This is my first thrifted Thermos. $2. Yet another new obsession that my husband will be griping over!

Brace yourself for the vintage goodness you are about to behold!!!

8 - 1960's vintage Anchor drinking glasses. $12.
Ahhhh! Aren't these absolutely gorgeous? I splurged a little on these beauties. They were screaming, "take me home, drink out of me, love me!!" I couldn't help myself.

The name says it all!

1960's patio lights. $5. I love the characters on the box. Don't they look like they don't have a care in the world? I believe I'm actually going to hang these up around my mantle. I think bringing the fiesta indoors is more fun! And for this reason...

Hubby and I just hung these adorable patio light owls up on the back deck last night. $7.
I can't wait to get some pics of the outcome this weekend.

Happy Weekend y'all!

A New Home For Pyrex

I did some estate/yard saling this past weekend with a new friend! We had a wonderful time...and scored some great deals!
We stopped by one sale where I found an old Cosco utility cart. There was no price on the cart so I asked the owner how much he would take. He said, $6. At that time I had already found myself an adorable kitty cat figurine (will post about that and other finds in another post soon). I then asked the man how much for the kitty figurine. He replied with, "a buck". I pondered for a second...
I said, "how about $5 for the kitty and the cart". He obliged.
I decided to display a few of my Pyrex pieces on my new purchase!

I think I may paint it red :)
I just realized I need more cookbooks!!!! :(

Happy Tuesday everyone! :)

Where did they go?!

I may be sounding a little silly right now...but I miss old friendships! I miss the gal's I used to spend time with. We would laugh, drink, eat and make fun of each other! :) What happened?! Why do best girl friends tend to part ways?

I miss the good ol' days! I guess we've all grown up and moved on with our lives. It makes me very sad.

Has anyone else ever gone through a friend-drought?
